Service outsourcing does not mean every collaboration between two companies. This should be a long-term interaction of two businesses with different specializations, and which is aimed at achieving a result. IT outsourcing, as you might guess, is the provision of information technology services.
There can be many more services transferred to an external provider.
Almost any company can outsource several functions: cleaning, electrician, reception, catering and many others. But even if the company has chosen IT outsourcing, it can also be entrusted to several providers: the function of supporting the workplace from one provider, access to systems, their support and development - from another.
Being able to focus on your core business is an obvious motivator. It is easy to imagine that if you are a newly minted director of a bakery, then the main task of the business will be baking, and there is no point in creating a staff unit for a web designer and technologist. This function can be outsourced. Another plus: scaling. The most striking example is the outsourcing of computing power. All major technology players in the world have already built their own clouds: AWS from Amazon, Azure from Microsoft, Google Cloud, and in Russia: Yandex.Cloud, SberCloud, Mail.ru Cloud, etc. Depending on the needs and complexity of internal procurement procedures in an organization, procurement and commissioning of a dozen new servers and storage systems can take from a month to a year (not counting time for configuration), while creating a similar set in the cloud will take minutes and hours.
