Bank account in Sweden

Banks in Sweden are rightfully considered one of the most reliable and stable in the world. The country's central bank is over 350 years old. The Riksbank is one of the largest and oldest banks in Europe. This financial institution is subordinate to the Riksdag, the Swedish parliament. The Riksbank provides the country with a low inflation rate and stability of the entire system. Thanks to the efficient operation of the central bank, Sweden climbed out of the global crisis of the 90s without any problems. Savings banks are considered to be the most popular in Sweden; locals most often resort to their services. There are also "original" financial institutions in the country. For example, Ekobanken is so “transparent” and responsible that it publishes information about issued loans in the public domain. Stadshypotek is a large bank that specializes in lending to legal entities and individuals. Westra Wermlands Sparbank is one of the country's most popular savings banks, with over 160 years of experience. The headquarters of the bank is located in the city of Arvika. Nordea is a large banking group with branches all over the world (1,500 branches). Swedbank - 10,000,000 private and corporate clients in Sweden, Denmark and the Baltics. SEB is one of the largest financial groups in Europe. Handelsbanken is one of the largest banks in Scandinavia.

How to open an account

Swedish banks do not prohibit non-residents from opening accounts, but all applications are considered on an individual basis and in most cases everything is not easy. There are a number of documents, the presence of which will have a positive effect on the bank's decision:

- personnummer (personal number, which is indicated in Skatteverket - a document from the tax),

- an employment contract or document confirming that you will receive regular payments from a Swedish company,

- a long-term rental agreement or ownership of real estate.

Most banks in Sweden work with clients in the morning, so try to find out in advance the opening hours of the bank you are interested in and prepare documents
