Banks in Malta have established themselves as reliable financial institutions operating with maximum comfort for their clients. Their doors are open not only to Maltese, but also to foreigners who need to open a checking, deposit or credit account. A non-resident can do this by collecting the necessary package of documents. After opening an account, you can manage it via the Internet, phone, or using mobile banking. In order to open an account with a bank in Malta, a non-resident needs to provide a passport, receipts for payment of utility bills, which indicate the applicant's address (not necessarily a Maltese address), certificates from banks where the client was previously served, to form a credit history, and the actual application, which contains a request to open an account. The application form is available on the Maltese banks website. Sometimes they may ask for a police clearance certificate. Financiers will scrupulously check the authenticity of all documents, especially for loans that the client took from other banks, the history of banking operations. This process can be completed within a few weeks, or it can take six months. They can refuse if the applicant was previously declared bankrupt, has debts for communal services or loan payments. But if everything is in order, then the bank staff will inform that the account has been opened, and they will start producing a plastic card. You can ask to issue it at the bank at your place of residence. But, it is better to come personally for the card.
